Today, a local group of concerned citizens announces the formation of VoteYesFayetteville (VoteYesFayetteville.com). The new group is sponsoring a citizen’s petition to add a referendum to an upcoming municipal election. The referendum would offer citizens a way to re-structure the Fayetteville City Council and make it more answerable to voters. Under the group’s proposal, the current council’s nine single-member districts and at-large mayor would shift to a structure of five single-member districts, four at-large members, and an at-large mayor elected by the entire city.
